Ah, January, the month of rebirth, filled with failed resolutions and hollow promises to diet. God, I missed you. Here’s hoping we won’t have to bend over and take it as we did in 2020/2021. Who’s with me? Raise a hand!
Now to kick off the first post of a new year. Care to know what’s fueling my words this week? Read on to find out.
Under sweets, treats & healthy eats we have: a creamy salmon pasta salad. Are you tired of slaving away in front of a stove? Did you bake so much throughout December that you began to resemble the Pillsbury doughboy? No worries, you can whip this salad in a jiffy without much use of the stove, and it lasts for days. Huzzah to meal-prep!
In Do.It.Your Self-care: two holiday diffuser recipes! Are you still feeling the Christmas spirit despite Saint Nick having already completed his rounds for the year? Well, I have your back! Fill your home with the scent of candy canes and gingerbread cookies, then pretend it’s Christmas all over again. YOU’RE WELCOME!
At the Book Nook: a review of the best-selling fantasy novel, The Midnight Library. This one was a doozy, kiddies. You don’t want to miss it!
And finally, we come to the Writing Corner. This week I reveal a new cover and title for my short story series on Moonquill.com. A Faery Darkly, formerly known as Fairy-Railed: a trio of Subversive tales.
Additionally, I will unveil a new synopsis. One that better captures the content of the stories. Sometimes as artists, we grow beyond our past work–it’s OK for your projects to transform as you do if you have the opportunity to update them. I give you full permission!

This creamy pasta salad packs a wallop in the nutritional department. It’s packed full of omega-three fatty acids, vitamin c, and vitamin a, and it’s easy to make. What could be better post-Christmas?

Tantalize your senses with warm, spicy gingerbread and refreshing candy cane. These aromas will fill your home and feel like a big ole Christmas hug each time you sniff them. Happy belated holidays, everyone!
F.Y.I-if you don’t happen to have a diffuser, no worries. Just get a spray bottle, fill it with 30ml of water and top off with either of the mixtures mentioned below for a holiday room spray. Et voila!

This week from the book nook, a review of The Midnight Library, written by Matt Haig.

“I’ve always wanted to see a Pixie,” Hazel uttered, curious eyes cast towards the luminous forest, billowing with smoke and drenched in Faery magic.
Missy agreed, her big blue eyes sparkling at the prospect of seeing one of the Fae up close.
Villagers from town spoke of a rite, one that would ensure the girls could see where the faeries roam and live: catch a member of their ilk, a Pixie, the mischievous fair folk of the jade forest, beautiful, tiny, and elusive, and it’ll take you back to the Fae’s sacred homeland.
But the Pixie’s allure hides a terrible secret, one darker than night and older than sin. A secret the villagers did not speak on.
As the girls seek them out amongst the ancient trees in the jade forest, the answer to their dreams quickly becomes an all-consuming nightmare.
Can they make it out before the morning light breaks through, or will they be bound to wander the ancient forest eternally in search of roving Fae?
